Rod Penn: Instructor Medusa started Capoeira in 1999 whilst teaching English in Tokyo, Japan.
Already addicted to Capoeira, Medusa came back to his University city of Norwich. At that time he was the only Capoeirista in his city, so with his friends he started to run a small group and travel to the nearest group in Cambridge. He founded the first group in Norwich, which has continued successfully until today.
In 2006, he organised and hosted the first official Capoeira event in Norwich, co-funded by the Arts Council.
In 2007, with Instructor Cascao taking over the Norwich group, He then created the first Capoeira group in Bali Indonesia, with his good friend Tarzan. Medusa still maintains close contact with his friends in Indonesia, supporting the growth and development of Capoeira there.
In 2008, Medusa joined with Contra Mestre Papa Leguas to pursue Cordao De Ouro training and follow the structure of his Capoeira.
He then worked for 'Capoeira Communities' delivering workshops of Capoeira in Primary and Secondary schools across Norfolk.
In 2010 he received the title of Instructor under CM Papa Leguas. In 2011, Medusa then stayed a whole year living with CM Papa Leguas, training and traveling with him. Medusa has trained Capoeira in Brazil, Japan, Malaysia, East Timor, Singapore, Australia, France, Italy, Sweden, New Zealand and Russia.
Having received the blue cord in Cordao de Ouro, Medusa is now commencing new work in Scotland.
All classes of CDO Scotland will be taught by Instructor Medusa, who follows closely the techniques and Capoeira game philosophy of his teacher CM Papa Leguas.
" After 13 years, I am still as passionate about Capoeira as ever. I see the extraordinary benefits it can bring people, through the physical and musical aspects, but also through the social interaction and positivity. It is a continuous challenge, there is always more to learn and more to experience, that's what keeps it fresh year after year. More than anything though, it is just so much fun."

Contra Mestre Papa Leguas
Jaime de Oliveira Gontijo: Contra-Mestre Papa-Léguas started Capoeira at the age of 14 in Patos de Minas. The first group he joined was Grupo Afro, but after two years his former teacher split from this group and they moved under the group Raizes - Cordão De Ouro of Mestre Ze Paulo in Belo Horizonte, Mina Gerais.
Formed as Instructor, and already teaching together with his former teacher, he decided in 2000 to move to London where, with the help of Professor Rilene and Rejane from the Group Amazonas Capoeira, he started to give his first classes in the UK.
Then he moved to Burton on Trent for 6 months where he taught Capoeira at the local college in the performing arts course. In 2001 he moved again, this time to Nottingham where he established his group, Cordão De Ouro Nottingham. His work started to grow and in 2004 he opened the first Cordão De Ouro Academy in the UK.
In November 2008 he moved to Crete, to open up another branch of Cordão De Ouro in Heraklion, handing over the Nottingham group to two of his leading graduated students, Instructors Tatu and Tatanka. In June 2009 CDO Heraklion celebrated its first Batizado (grading event), with visiting masters and teachers from throughout Europe and the UK attending.
In January 2011, Contra Mestre Papa Leguas moved back to the UK to continue his coordination of his UK groups and has now opened a new group in Norwich.
